Description

Surface expressed human or murine CD47 on CHO cells are useful for screening anti-CD47 antibody with FACS, as target cells in cell based assay, such as ADCC or CTL. CD47 is involved in the increase in intracellular calcium concentration that occurs upon cell adhesion to extracellular matrix. The encoded protein is also a receptor for the C-terminal cell binding domain of thrombospondin, and it may play a role in membrane transport and signal transduction. This gene has broad tissue distribution, and is reduced in expression on Rh erythrocytes. The CD47-deficient mouse had deficient host defense. CD47 acts as an inhibitory signal to macrophages. CD47 has been found to be overexpressed in many different tumor cells. It is a potential therapeutic target in cancer treatment. Phase I clinical trail using anti-CD47 in cancer therapy is near completion in August, 2018.
